About the player
Jakub Surovčík grew up in the Slavia Prague academy after starting out at Meteor Prague, and his path to Sparta's first team ran through spells away from the biggest stages. He spent 2020–2021 with Slavia's B team, then went out on loan to FC Sellier & Bellot Vlašim, where he made a single cup appearance. A move to Jablonec followed in early 2022, initially with the reserves before he broke into the league side for three appearances in the 2022–2023 season.
Sparta signed him in July 2023, and he again started in the shadow squad, playing for Sparta B while the first team went on to win both the Czech First League and the Czech Cup that season without him featuring. His breakthrough finally came on 25 February 2025, when he made his senior debut for Sparta in the MOL Cup against Dukla Prague, a match Sparta won 3–0.
Surovčík has come through Slovakia's youth ranks at U17, U19 and U21 level, and he was called up to the senior national team, making his debut in a friendly against Montenegro that finished 2–2 at the Košická futbalová aréna.
