Juan Jimenez

Técnico Universitario's inability to register new players in recent seasons traced back, in part, to a ruling that had Juan David Jiménez Alvarado's name attached to it. FIFA sided with the Colombian midfielder in a dispute, ordering the Ecuadorian club to settle the debt with interest; when the money did not arrive, the federation barred Técnico Universitario from registering new signings.

Jiménez's path there began at home in Colombia, coming through the youth ranks at Bogotá and appearing for the club's Sub-20 side in 2011, though no record survives of his time in the first team. He moved on to Fortaleza CEIF in 2016 and had a short spell at Atlético Bucaramanga in 2018 before crossing into Ecuadorian football the following year.

Técnico Universitario became the club where he settled. Across six seasons he was a regular fixture, reaching 30 appearances in both 2020–21 and 2021–22 and scoring in each of those campaigns; by 2025 he was still logging heavy minutes, playing 32 matches and more than 2,400 minutes in his final season there.

With the dispute unresolved, Jiménez left as a free agent and signed for Manta in January 2026. He has made 13 appearances for his new club, with his only goal so far arriving in the clásico against Delfín — the winner in the match.
