Mark McKenzie

Mark McKenzie came through the Ayr United academy and has spent almost his entire senior career at Somerset Park. His first-team debut came in September 2019 in the Scottish Challenge Cup against Wrexham. His league debut followed against Alloa Athletic later that month.

The only time he has played senior football elsewhere was a loan at Forfar Athletic in February 2020. He made three appearances in Scottish League One there and did not score. He came back to Ayr and became a regular in the side.

A first senior brace arrived in March 2021, in a 3–1 win over Dundee.

He has since made more than 235 senior appearances for Ayr and scored 24 goals: 20 in the league and four in cup competitions. He has scored in both the Scottish Cup and the League Cup. In the 2025/26 Scottish Championship season he scored seven league goals in 30 appearances.

McKenzie has represented Scotland at youth level.

He should not be confused with the American centre-back of the same name, born in 1999, who plays for Toulouse and the United States national team. The two have had no career overlap.
