About the player
His contract with Kisvárda runs to 30 June 2027.
The route to the first team was a long one. He began in local youth sides in the north-east of Hungary, at Záhonyi VSC, Kistökös GYFC and Cigánd SE, and moved to the Diósgyőr academy in 2016. At Ferencváros he was loaned out to Soroksár SC for the 2022/2023 season, which gave him a season of senior football before he moved on.
His first official match for Kisvárda came on 30 July 2023 against Zalaegerszeg, and the club won 2–0. Over the 2023–2024 Nemzeti Bajnokság I season he made 28 league appearances and conceded 43 goals.
Kovács also came through Hungary's youth national teams. He earned seven caps in total: two for the under-15s in 2018, two for the under-16s in 2019 and three for the under-17s across 2019 and 2020. He has not yet played for the senior national side.
