Marquinhos

Marquinhos took a longer route into professional football than most, moving through Castanhal, Santos, Noroeste and Portuguesa before Corinthians brought him into their youth academy in 2014. He did not settle immediately in São Paulo — before a stint at Red Bull Bragantino, where he played a part in the club's promotion from the Série C. That patience paid off: back at Corinthians, he won the Campeonato Paulista in 2019 and eventually broke into the senior squad.

His time in Brazil closed with a short spell at Cuiabá in 2022, where he scored once in 15 appearances. That same year, a move for a reported €200,000 took him to APOEL Nicosia and into European football — a switch that has defined his career since.

In Cyprus, Marquinhos has become a reliable presence for APOEL, passing the century mark in appearances for the club and scoring 24 goals along the way. He was part of the squad that won the Cypriot First Division in the 2023–24 season, following it up with the Cypriot Super Cup the following campaign. built on a path that started far from Nicosia and ran through several loan spells before he found a settled home.
