About the player
Milan Smits made his Belgian Pro League debut for Royal Antwerp on 5 March 2023, against KV Mechelen. He signed his first professional contract that same month. Over the following two seasons he made seven senior appearances for Antwerp while continuing to feature for the reserve side, Young Reds Antwerp, where he played 62 matches and scored twice between 2022 and 2025. During his time at the club, Smits was part of the squad that won the Belgian First Division A title and the Belgian Cup in 2022–23, followed by the Belgian Super Cup the following season.
In June 2025, Smits moved to the Netherlands on a free transfer, joining De Graafschap on a two-year contract with an option for a third season. He scored on his league debut for the club, netting in a 3–2 home win over VVV-Venlo on the opening day of the 2025–26 Eerste Divisie campaign. His first season in Doetinchem was interrupted by an injury picked up in late August 2025, which kept him out of the squad until November. He has since returned to fitness and, as of April 2026, had made 18 appearances for De Graafschap.
Smits started out at Zandvliet Sport before moves to Lierse SK and KV Mechelen, and he joined Royal Antwerp's academy in 2018. A right-footed midfielder, he is 187 centimetres tall.
