About the player
Rüfət Abdullazadə is a product of the Sumqayıt academy, where he made his senior debut on 4 November 2017 and stayed until 2023, when he moved on to Sabail. In July 2025 he signed a three-year contract with the Croatian side NK Varaždin, reportedly covering the roughly 60,000 AZN release fee himself to leave Sabail as a free agent.
In January 2026, Varaždin sent him back to Azerbaijan on loan to Zira for the rest of the season, and by August he had moved again, this time on loan to the Israeli club Ironi Kiryat Shmona, where he now plays.
Abdullazadə has come through Azerbaijan's youth ranks at Under-17, Under-19 and Under-21 level, and he earned his first senior cap on 13 November 2025, playing 75 minutes in a 2026 World Cup qualifier away to Iceland that finished in a 0-2 defeat.
His contract with Varaždin runs until May 2028, while his loan spell at Ironi Kiryat Shmona is set to last until June 2027.
