Shay Pinhas Ben-David

Shay Ben-David spent his formative years registered with Maccabi Haifa from 2017 to 2023, making just 17 league appearances for the club across that period, with the bulk of his football coming away from Haifa on a string of loan spells. He was sent out to Hapoel Ashkelon, twice to Hapoel Afula, and further afield to Trapani in Italy's Serie B and San Fernando in Spain's third tier, before loan stints at MS Asdod and Hapoel Kfar Saba, where he made 49 appearances and scored once.

That itinerant period meant Ben-David was absent when Maccabi Haifa won back-to-back Israeli Premier League titles in 2021–22 and 2022–23; on loan elsewhere at the time, he was not registered in the first-team squad for medal purposes and does not carry those honours.

His path changed in June 2023 with a move to Ironi Kiryat Shmona. He became a regular there, making around 33 appearances as the club won the Liga Leumit in the 2023–24 season and secured promotion to the Israeli Premier League — a title he is officially credited with. He has continued as a fixture for Kiryat Shmona since, passing 88 league appearances for the club.

Ben-David made his senior debut for Maccabi Haifa in January 2016 after coming through the youth ranks at Bnei Yehuda and Maccabi Tel Aviv. At international level, he has represented Israel at under-21 level, earning six caps, but has not been called up to the senior national side.
