Bedrichov

Bedřichov u Jihlavy is a village in the Vysočina Region, and its football began on a strip of ground near the Jitřenka store, on the old Bohemian-Moravian border. That first pitch measured 90x56 metres. By 1935 the club had passed 100 members and laid out a full 105x70 metre pitch, and more than 3,000 people came to see it opened.

The crowd had reason to come. In 1934 the side won the Pohár Českomoravské Vysočiny by beating Humpolec 4-3, a result against the club that is still its main local rival. In 1937-38, the years the club remembers as its golden era, it beat SK Jihlava. In 1943 the war forced a merger with other clubs. The Perleťový pohár followed in 1948 and again in 1949.

The politics of the period changed the name three times: JTO Sokol Bedřichov in 1949, and TJ Sokol Bedřichov from 1956. That is still the name today. The men's team reached the Jihlava regional championship in 1950.

Later decades were spent in the lower divisions, with promotions coming one at a time: the I. A třída of the Jihomoravská župa in 1996/97, the I. B třída of the Vysočina Region in 2009/10 and again in 2018/19. In 1982/83 a teenager named Marek Zúbek played here. He later played for Zbrojovka Brno, Baník Ostrava and FC Vysočina Jihlava, and became a Czech international.

The most recent step came in 2024/25, when Bedřichov won the I. A třída of the Vysočina Region. The supporters' slogan, "We are Bedr", now goes with them to opponents such as Sapeli Polná and Pelhřimov. The club's volleyball section has also produced players of note, including Šárka Šloufová.
