Bitburg

Stadion Ost sits beside the Bitburg sports school, and that is why it carries a second name, Stadion der Sportschule Bitburg. It holds about 2,500 spectators today. Older figures put the crowd at up to 7,000.

The men who play there are called die Bitburger, in red and white. The club began in 1919 as SV 1919 Bitburg and took the name FC Bitburg later. Its neighbour and main rival is SV Eintracht Trier 05. Both sides call the fixture the "Derby der Gegensätze", the Derby of Opposites, though "Lokalderby" is the plainer word for it.

The Rhineland Cup win of 1987 sent Bitburg into the DFB-Pokal, the national cup. The women's team took the same regional trophy in 2010. The most recent title came in the 2022–23 season, when the men won the Rheinlandliga. That put them in the Oberliga Rheinland-Pfalz/Saar.

Fabian Ewertz has coached the men through that climb. He took the team up from the lower tiers to the Oberliga. Daniel Molitor looks after the women's side.

The best-known name to come out of the club's youth ranks is Edgar Schmitt. He played in the Bundesliga for Eintracht Frankfurt and for Karlsruher SC.
