Blyth Town

The 2015 split nearly destroyed Blyth Town. The first team broke away to form a separate organization, leaving the original club with nothing but its name and faith. That group, later renamed Blyth AFC, folded in August 2018. Instead, the remaining side rebuilt.

Blyth Town Football Club began life in 1995 as a junior outfit with three boys' teams. Expansion came slowly, with adult men's and women's sides added in 2002. The ground, South Newsham Playing Fields, holds 1,000 fans in total, though only 150 have seats. The rest stand on the grass.

The club's rise was steady, if unglamorous. They won Division Two in 2023–24. But the higher leagues brought pressure. In 2024–25, promotion to the Northern Premier League Division One via play-offs seemed like a breakthrough. It did not last long. Relegation followed, and the team tightened things up in the lower tier, knowing that stability matters more than fleeting glory.

Notable players like Jack Errington, an ex-Burnley academy graduate, and Adam Laidler, who came through Newcastle United U23, added quality to the ranks. The record attendance of 1,105 against Blyth Spartans in a Northumberland Senior Cup semi-final in 2016–17 stands as proof. Others come and go. This club stays.
