Branik

Founded in 1914 as a multi-sport society, the football side only took shape in 1920, and Slavoj Braník played through the 1950s and 60s, then Pragoflora Braník from 1974, before the old TJ ABC Bránik name returned. In 2017 the football department split off on its own as ABC Bránik fotbal.

The club's one real high-water mark came at the turn of the 1970s. Promotion out of the Prague Regional League in 1970/71 put them into the Czechoslovak Division, the country's third tier, and the following season they finished second — nine points off a run to the second national league. It was as close as Bránik ever came to the top, and they held their place in the Division until 1984, where they still meet the likes of Meteor Praha and Tempo Praha rather than any single named rival.

That list runs from Karel Hanáček, who kept goal for Bohemians and the Czechoslovak national team, through to Filip Nguyễn, the Czech-Vietnamese goalkeeper who went on to play for Sparta Praha and Slovan Liberec. But the name most tied to Bránik remains Václav Mašek, who left the district club behind to become a Sparta Praha legend.
