Chorley's local grudge runs against Southport and Bamber Bridge, and Victory Park has seen its share of trouble away from those fixtures too: a fire wrecked the main stand in 1945, and embezzlement by a club official tipped the finances into crisis in 2011. The club recovered from both.
What began as a rugby club in 1875 turned to football in 1883, and the black-and-white stripes earned the nickname the Magpies. Victory Park became home in 1920, bought outright six years later, and still holds the ground the club has known for over a century.
The honours board is heavy with Lancashire Combination titles, eleven of them between 1920 and 1964. Two Northern Premier League titles followed, in 1988 and 2014, and the 2018-19 season added a National League North play-off win.
Chorley now competes in the Northern Premier League.
