The club grew out of Croesyceiliog School. Woodland Road never grew into a ground built for crowds; it holds 200 in its stand, and the club has stayed rooted in local leagues and cups rather than chasing promotion through the Welsh pyramid's upper tiers.

The strongest season on record came in 2023–24, when the first team took the Gwent Premier title while the youth side won the Gwent Premier Youth League, the Newport and District Premier Youth title and the Gwent Premier Youth Cup in the same campaign, with the senior side adding the Vibez Dennis Herbert Senior Bowl for good measure. Earlier generations had already filled the cabinet with Monmouthshire and Gwent Senior Cup wins stretching back to the mid-1980s, and with the Gwent County League Division One title either side of the 2003 season.

Blue has stayed the club's own colour since 1964, worn at home with yellow kept for away days.
