Dresden Ii

In 1973 the reserve side of Dynamo Dresden won Staffel E of the DDR-Liga, the second tier of East German football. Reserve teams were not allowed to go up to the Oberliga, so the title carried no promotion with it. The team had already been champions of the Dresden district in 1970 and won that title again in 1984.

The club that exists today dates from 14 April 1990, re-established as the country moved towards reunification. It took the black and yellow of the Dresden coat of arms, as the senior side does, and it wears the same crest. Its games are played at the Heinz-Steyer-Stadion, which holds 10,343 with 5,400 under cover.

The years after 1990 brought one trophy, the Sachsenpokal in 2009.

Ulf Kirsten came through the youth setup that feeds this team, and so did Tom Starke. Jens Jeremies and Torsten Gütschow are also counted among the players linked to the reserve and youth ranks.

The 2025/26 season brought the clearest result of the modern era. The team won the Sachsenliga and earned promotion to the NOFV-Oberliga Süd, where it now plays in 2026/27.

Those names are Chemnitzer FC and FC Erzgebirge Aue.
