Ås, Oppegård, Langhus, Ski and Nordby each had a sports club with a football section. In 2000 the five put their football departments into one organisation, Follo FK.
They followed quickly. Follo won the 2. divisjon, the third tier, in 2009 and went up, and did the same in 2012, 2014 and 2023.
In the Norwegian Cup that season Follo met Rosenborg, a side from the top flight, in the semi-final and won 3–2, a result that was called a major cup shock.
Several players came up through this club or passed through it. Alexander Ruud Tveter, an academy graduate, went on to Fredrikstad, Sarpsborg 08 and Sandefjord. divisjon for the fourth time.
Home games are at Ski stadion, where 1,400 of the 2,100 places are under cover. The supporters' group is called Followers. Lørenskog and Asker are the regional rivals, and the match-fixing scandal of 2012 tied Asker's name to Follo's.
