Harleston Town

By 1885 that side had a name and a ground to play on. The Recreation Ground on Wilderness Lane has housed them ever since, though not without interruption: in 2019 the club was dropped out of the Eastern Counties League Division One North for want of floodlights, a ground-grading failure rather than a footballing one, and it took until 2021 to get back in.

The return did not leave them standing still. Promotion through the play-offs in 2021–22 put Harleston Town into the Premier Division, building on a spell that had already produced the club's clearest identity: the 2017–18 season, when they won the Anglian Combination Premier Division outright. Nick Howell and Nathan Stone played through that double-winning campaign and stayed on afterwards as assistant managers. Between 2022 and 2024 the dugout belonged to Danny Crow, a former professional striker who took charge of a side by then adjusting to life in a higher division.

Cup football has since given the club its best headlines. Harleston Town made their Emirates FA Cup debut in 2023–24, while in the FA Vase a run to the Second Round in 2024–25 stands as their furthest so far.

None of it draws a crowd beyond what The Recreation Ground can hold, fifteen hundred at most.
