Horni Becva

Hřiště Horní Bečva sits with a capacity of around 1,000, and it is here, in the Beskids valley, that Sokol has always had to make do with what the village could give it.

The football section grew out of the local Sokol movement, and it has stayed that shape ever since: a club run on local labour, its senior side made up almost entirely of players who came through the village's own youth ranks and its "Školička" for the youngest children. There has been no run of league titles to show for it. The team sits in the sixth tier, I. A třída Zlínského kraje, with a reserve side two levels below, and the honours board is thin: a Pohár hejtmana Zlínského kraje won with two comebacks and seven goals in front of 1,310 spectators, and, on the futsal side under the name 1. FC Horní Bečva, a Valašský pohár from 2003.

What the club is known for locally has less to do with silverware than with three villages strung along the same river. Horní Bečva, Prostřední Bečva and Dolní Bečva play out what is called the Bitva o Bečvu, the Battle for Bečva, and the fixture against Prostřední Bečva carries a weight out of proportion to the level these teams play at. In the 2025/26 season a match between the two drew 1,020 spectators, a record for a sixth-tier game in the region, and ended with an assistant referee knocked unconscious by someone from the crowd.

Green and yellow are the club's colours, worn without a nickname beyond the plain "Sokol Horní Bečva." Beyond league football, the club has also sent teams into the qualifying rounds of the Czech Cup, meeting sides such as FC Slušovice and Valašské Meziříčí before the competition moves on to clubs of a different scale. It all comes back to the same ground in the valley, where the floodlights go on and the volunteers mark the lines before kick-off.
