Longridge Town

Jordan Tucker came up through the Preston North End youth system before a spell at The Mike Riding Ground. Paul McKenna, once a midfielder at Preston North End and Nottingham Forest, turned out for the side in 2016.

The club itself was stitched together in 1996, when Longridge St Wilfrid's, a historically Catholic side, merged with Longridge United, formerly known as Longridge St Lawrence and rooted in the town's Protestant tradition. Two congregations' teams became one town's team.

Honours have come from the lower rungs of the non-league pyramid: the West Lancashire League Premier Division in 2017–18, the North West Counties League Division One North the following season. But the line most retold locally is the 2019–20 FA Cup run, Longridge Town's first appearance in the competition proper, when the trophy itself was brought to the ground.

Against Clitheroe, the Ribble Valley derby carries its own weight, the kind of fixture where the history between them adds an edge no league table explains. Club Secretary Dave Walker has been the constant behind much of this, tending to a side that still plays for a town of two churches now sharing one badge.
