In the Val Gobbia, a football club was pieced together in 1946, which is why its supporters are still known as Valgobbini .
The climb into professional football came with promotion from Serie D in 1993. The high point fell in 2009–10, when a Serie C side went into the Coppa Italia and beat Atalanta 3–1, then closed the season by lifting the Coppa Italia Serie C after getting past Cosenza in the final. There were near misses either side of it: playoff finals lost to Pistoiese in 1998–99 and to Cesena in extra time in 2003–04.
Simone Inzaghi made his professional debut in the Lumezzane shirt; Mario Balotelli passed through the youth ranks.
That run ended in 2018, when debts caught up with the club and it was relegated out of the professional ranks and dissolved.
