The club traces its lineage back to 1990, when it began as the Grand Rapids Area Soccer Association. It evolved through a merger in 2007 that formed the Grand Rapids Crew Juniors. This transition was significant because it made the group the first junior affiliate of the Columbus Crew. The current name arrived in 2015 after TKO Premier Soccer joined the fold.

The facility at 3450 36th St SE reflects this purpose. It is a multi-field complex rather than a stadium with stands. The club’s connection to the bigger picture is visible in its competitive pathways. The men’s U23 side entered USL League Two in 2022, while the women’s team played in the inaugural USL W League season the same year.

Success here is measured in graduates who leave for professional careers. Maddie Pogarch and Maia Perez followed similar trajectories, reaching the Utah Royals and Angel City FC respectively. On the men’s side, Brad Dunwell played for clubs including the Houston Dynamo and Detroit City FC. These departures are the club’s primary metric of performance.
