Mistelbach

Philipp Klar spent one season between Mistelbach's posts, in 2011–12, before Wiener Neustadt took him into the 2. Liga — a short stop.

Everything else has stayed close to home. Founded in 1926 (some records point instead to a re-formation in May 1947, likely after the war scattered the original club), FC Mistelbach has built its identity around the district rather than the country. The club now plays as FC druckmittel.at Mistelbach under its latest sponsor, in the 2. Landesliga Ost, the sixth tier, at the Algebra Sportzentrum, a 2,000-capacity ground in Mistelbach an der Zaya, Lower Austria.

The fixture that still gets circled on the calendar is against SC Wolkersdorf. Local papers call it the Mistelbach Bezirksderby, a "Prestigeduell" fought less for points than for standing in the district. FC Neudorf provides a second, smaller rivalry, while matches against SV Sierndorf come round often enough in the same division without carrying the same weight.

No league title or cup run marks the club's record, and no nickname has attached itself to the shirt. What has held is the place itself: a sixth-tier side whose season is measured against its neighbours rather than the standings above them, with the Bezirksderby against Wolkersdorf still the one date that matters more than the league position either side holds when it comes round.
