Nürnberg

Runners-up in the 2. Frauen-Bundesliga in 2024/25 was enough to send Nürnberg back to the top flight for 2025/26, a year after they had gone down. In 2023/24 they finished 11th in the Frauen-Bundesliga and dropped out. The first, in 1999/2000, lasted one season.

They took the Bavarian Cup in 1998 and 2002, then three years running from 2014 to 2016. They also won the Bayernliga in 1998/99, 2008/09 and 2012/13.

The biggest crowd they have drawn came in the DFB-Pokal in 2022/23. The tie against VfL Wolfsburg was played at the Max-Morlock-Stadion, which holds about 50,000, and 17,302 came. Nürnberg reached the last 16 that season and had done the same in 2019/20. Their regular ground is the Max-Morlock-Platz in the Sportpark Valznerweiher, with room for about 3,000, and they have played there since going down from the top flight.

Their main opponents are FC Bayern München Frauen. Nadine Angerer spent 1995 to 1996 at Nürnberg before becoming a World Cup and European champion with Germany and FIFA World Player of the Year in 2013. Kerstin Stegemann, who won 191 caps, also played for the club. Omar Adlani is the current head coach.

The women's team began on 24 August 1988 as a department of 1. FC Nürnberg. From spring 1995 it ran as a separate association for 28 years. On 10 May 2023 that association was dissolved and folded back into the parent club. This season the department plays as the ClubFrauen, in the red and black hoops of the club it started in.
