Ouakam

Fadiouf Ndiaye was captain of US Ouakam when he collapsed during a match at the Stade Demba Diop on 15 July 2015 and died. Players from the club carried its colours, red and yellow, to the Paris World Games that same year.

Ouakam takes its name from a subdivision of Dakar, and el Hadji Moussa Diagne founded the club there in 1951, in the last years of French colonial rule. The nickname is Les Requins, and sometimes Les Requins Rouges. The shark also sits on the badge.

The three Senegal FA Cup wins came in 1964, 1989 and 2006, and all three finals finished 1-0. Olympique Thiès lost the first, ASFA Dakar the second and ASC Médiour the third. The league title arrived in 2011, 47 years after the first cup. Most Ouakam seasons are measured against ASC Jaraaf, the other side in the derby dakarois.

The Stade Demba Diop lies in Sicap-Liberté, on Boulevard Président Habib Bourguiba. It opened in 1963 and carries the name of Demba Diop, a former mayor of M'bour who served as Minister of Youth and Sport under President Léopold Sédar Senghor. The pitch is artificial turf, and the ground has floodlights.
