Pavia

The Stadio Pietro Fortunati holds 3,999 seats now, down from an old capacity of 4,999 after safety rules trimmed the numbers — 1,129 in the West Tribune, 1,014 in the East Stands, the rest standing in the Curva Sud and Curva Nord. It is where Pavia has settled after a history that has rarely stayed settled for long.

The club goes back to 3 November 1911, when Emilio Piatti, Achille Pecci and Giovanni Ferrari founded Pavia Football Club. What followed was less a straight line than a string of restarts: reorganisations in 1927, 1937 and 1957, and then a harder break in 2016, when the previous entity, Pavia Calcio, was thrown out of the national championship pyramid over unpaid debts. What plays today as AC Pavia 1911 SSD is built on that ground, in Serie D, the fourth tier.

Twice Pavia won Serie C, in 1932–33 and 1952–53, and twice Serie C2, in 1983–84 and 2002–03. Four times the club reached Serie B.

The colours are azure and white, which gives the club its nickname, Gli Azzurri. The derby that matters is against Vogherese, known locally as the Derby Pavese.

Francesco Acerbi made his Serie C1 debut here in 2006, aged eighteen, before a career that carried him well beyond Pavia. Massimiliano Allegri passed through early as well. But it is Omar Norde whose name is still attached to the club's scoring record in the modern era.
