PRO Vercelli

Pro Vercelli have long been the smaller side in the Derby del Riso, which was not always so. Between 1908 and 1922 the White Shirts, Le Bianche Casacche, won seven national titles.

The club began as a gymnastics society. Professor Domenico Luppi founded the Società Ginnastica Pro Vercelli in 1892, and the football section was formally established only on 3 August 1903. Four years later the team won the Seconda Categoria; the first national title followed in 1908. Guido Ara, Carlo Rampini and Pietro Leone belonged to that generation. In 1922 the club merged with Giovani Calciatori Cappuccini and took the name Unione Sportiva Pro Vercelli, and the last of the seven titles came that same season.

Serie D titles came in 1957, 1971, 1984 and 1994. The last of them was won together with the Scudetto Dilettanti and brought back professional status.

In 2010 the original company went bankrupt. Its history and honours passed to a local rival, US Vercelli Calcio, formerly Pro Belvedere, which took back the name FC Pro Vercelli 1892. The new owners of the name reached Serie B in 2011–12, 64 years after the last time, and went up again in 2013–14. They dropped back to Serie C in 2017–18. The Stadio Silvio Piola holds 5,500, and the club now relies on loans and experienced players more than on its own academy.
