Saint-Priest

Three men, Callamart, Collomb and Ferrero, set up Club Sportif de Saint-Priest in 1945 in a suburb east of Lyon. Eight years later it merged with Stade Auto Lyonnais and took that name. It went back to Association Sportive de Saint-Priest in 1980 and has kept it since. The colours, red and gold, gave the club its nickname, Les Sang et Or.

Saint-Priest's standing rests less on its trophies than on the players it has passed to its big neighbour. Nabil Fekir, Georges Mikautadze, Pierre Kalulu, Bouna Sarr and Thierno Barry all came through the academy and reached Ligue 1, mostly by way of Olympique Lyonnais. Youri Djorkaeff is on that list too. Rayan Cherki spent time in the youth ranks.

The club's own results have come in the amateur divisions. It won the fourth tier, the CFA, in 1988 and finished second in it in 1998. It has taken the fifth-tier National 3 group three times, most recently in 2024. Earlier, it won the Rhône-Alpes regional championship in 1972 and 1975.

The Coupe de France has brought the club its most notable results. In 2002 it knocked out AJ Auxerre, who had Djibril Cissé and Philippe Mexès in their side, and went out to Nancy in the last 16. In 2024 it reached that stage for the first time. It led Valenciennes 1-1 at one point and lost 2-1.

Saint-Priest has no single derby. Matches against nearby sides such as FC Limonest Dardilly Saint-Didier and GOAL FC are all called "le derby". So, historically, were those against the Olympique Lyonnais reserves, OL B, and against MDA Foot.
