Tongeren

Promotion to the First Division came in 1980–81, when Tongeren topped the Second Division. The stay lasted two seasons: ninth place in the debut campaign, then relegation.

The club traces back to 1908, when it was founded as Cercle Sportif Tongrois. It became KSK Tongeren in 1969, after a merger with Patria FC Tongeren, keeping the matricule number 54. In 2021 it merged again, this time with KFC Heur-Tongeren, under the same KSK Tongeren name.

Lower-division titles followed a similar pattern of building and rebuilding: the Third Division in 1941–42 and again in 1970–71, the Fourth Division in 1960–61 and 1969–70. Between the two spells in the top flight and the run to the cup final, the promotion of 1981 remains the height the club reached.

Tongeren, nicknamed De Eburonen, plays in white and blue at the Sportoase Eburons Dome, known locally as De Keiberg, which holds 3,700. The rivalry that matters most in Limburg runs against KVK Wellen and SV Belisia Bilzen — the Zuid-Limburgse derby.
