Ventura County Fusion

Ventura County had no soccer franchise of its own until 2007, when the Fusion joined the Premier Development League (PDL) as the first from the area. Until 2011 the team played at Bulldog Stadium at Buena High School in Ventura, with the occasional match at Panther Stadium in Thousand Oaks. Home is now Ventura College Stadium, which holds 3,000.

The 2009 PDL National Championship came in the club's third season. The Fusion beat Chicago Fire Premier 2–1 in the final, and Alfonso Motogalvan scored the winning goal. Rodrigo Lopez, a former Chivas USA midfielder, was in that side. In 2022 the club won the national title again, this time in USL League Two, the PDL's successor, along with the Western Conference.

The 2012 U.S. Open Cup is the club's deepest run in that tournament. The Fusion beat Los Angeles Blues 3–1 in the Second Round, then lost 0–1 to Chivas USA in the Third. In the league, the fixture with FC Tucson is the one most often cited as a leading rivalry in the Western Conference. Friendlies against Everton, Burnley and Rangers have also been played.

The club says more than 125 of its players have gone on to professional football. The best known is Gyasi Zardes, who played in Major League Soccer (MLS) and for the United States national team.
