Simon Garner's name still turns up when older supporters talk about the Royalists, one of a handful of players from the Windsor & Eton days. That original Windsor & Eton F.C. had carried the town's football since 1892, and when it folded in 2011 under financial strain, the current club rose in its place within the same year, taking up home at Stag Meadow.

The ground held 4,500, a modest 450 of those seated, and for a time it gave Windsor a settled base. The club found its best spell not long after formation, taking the Berks & Bucks Senior Trophy in 2013–14 and then again the following season. A Union Jack kit produced in 2014 became something of a talking point locally, a departure from the usual blue and white.

Matches against Burnham and Maidenhead United carried the sharpest edge for supporters.

The lease at Stag Meadow passed in 2023 to a newly formed Windsor & Eton F.C., leaving the Royalists to ground-share at Holloways Park in Beaconsfield. By 2025 the club had pulled out of the Combined Counties League altogether.
