Central Coast Stadium has never been a fortress in the traditional sense; the conditions on the pitch change faster than the players can adjust, and the visitors sometimes find that advantage.
The stadium opened in early 2000, a decade after the site first hosted sport as Waterside Park. This exposure matters more than the capacity of 20,059, a figure that includes the temporary seating added for the A-League Men Grand Final on 25 May 2024, when 21,379 spectators packed in.
The pitch itself is natural grass, though it received a significant upgrade to a hybrid system in 2019. The surface is pristine, but the surroundings tell the real story. The venue has hosted the Rugby World Cup in 2003 and various women's international matches, yet it remains primarily the home of the Central Coast Mariners.
The history of the site runs back to 1915, but the current building only dates to the turn of the millennium, when the old Grahame Park was replaced by modern concrete and steel.
