Estádio Alair Corrêa
Cabo Frio, Brazil
Formerly: Estádio Nenzinho Carriço
The Estádio Alair Corrêa, commonly known as Correão, is a football ground in the Jardim Caiçara district of Cabo Frio. What makes the place distinct is not its history but its recent transformation. For years the venue was closed, its stands and locker rooms occupied by homeless individuals during a period of abandonment. The pitch remained natural grass until a full renovation in 2025 replaced it with a FIFA-standard hybrid surface. Structural repairs followed for the bleachers, roof and fencing.
The stadium was inaugurated in 1985 under the name Estádio Nenzinho Carriço. It was later renamed in honour of Alair Francisco Corrêa, a former mayor of Cabo Frio. The exact date of that renaming is not specified in available records, so the detail is left out here. The primary tenant is Associação Desportiva Cabofriense, though the ground has also hosted matches by major Rio de Janeiro clubs such as Vasco da Gama, Fluminense and Botafogo.
In 2014 fire safety restrictions limited the capacity to approximately 520 spectators, though the nominal figure is listed as 4,200. The highest documented attendance remains 4,029 for a Campeonato Carioca fixture between Flamengo and Cabofriense in January 2004. The second leg of the 2007 Copa Rio final was played here, where Cabofriense defeated Volta Redonda 2–0 before the title was decided on penalties.
The venue was reinaugurated in November 2025 after the completion of all works.
