Grenzlandstadion

The Grenzlandstadion sits at Seminarstraße 20 in the Rheydt district, holding 10,000 spectators, though only 2,260 of those seats are covered. It opened on 17 June 1927.

The most visible feature is not the football pitch, but the athletics track that encircles it. The surface of the 400-metre circuit cuts sharply against the green of the natural grass, a reminder of the stadium's dual purpose. This is a place where the boundary between a football match and a athletics meeting is blurred by the proximity of the two.

The ground has survived more than a century of change, outliving its original name, the Heinz-Brands-Kampfbahn, which was used during the Nazi era. It was rebuilt in 1960. Today, it hosts the reserve side of Borussia Mönchengladbach and the women's team, far from the main stage of the Borussia-Park. The two stadiums are distinct entities, despite sharing the same general location in Mönchengladbach.
