The Benteler-Arena is a stadium in Paderborn. Before it took its current name, the stadium lived through several sponsorship cycles. The name change to Home Deluxe Arena in 2022 did not alter the concrete and steel.
What holds attention is the roof, covered in solar panels that stretch across the length of the main stand. They are visible from the road, a flat expanse of blue cells against the grey sky. This was not an afterthought; the stadium opened in 2008 with these panels already in place, one of the first of its kind in German football. The architect, Josef Ellebracht, designed the structure with these in mind from the start.
The capacity of 15,000 proved enough for a late-night encounter in May 2025 when SC Paderborn 07 defeated VfL Wolfsburg 2–1 after extra time, securing promotion to the Bundesliga.
The pitch remains natural grass, though a switch to hybrid is planned for 2026.
