Irongate

The ground did not arrive fully formed. Bamber Bridge F.C. bought a plot of derelict land in 1983 and built the place themselves, moving into the structure in August 1987 after leaving King George's Playing Field.

It was constructed using funds from the Football League Trust and income from the club's FA Cup run in the 1999/2000 season. The current official capacity is 2,642, a figure confirmed by the club's matchday information, though some sources still list a nominal capacity of 3,000. The capacity has remained relatively stable since opening, with no significant historical reductions or increases recorded.

The name of the place has shifted with the times. It opened as the QED Stadium, a title used for sponsorship purposes from 1987 to 2014. Following the death of the Preston North End legend Sir Tom Finney, the ground adopted his name as an honorific title. The address is Sir Tom Finney Stadium, Irongate, Bamber Bridge, Preston, PR5 6UU, but the location is defined by its history. The record attendance is 2,300, set on June 6, 1996, during a friendly match against the Czech Republic national team. The Czechs used the stadium as their training ground ahead of UEFA Euro 96, and the match ended in a 9–1 defeat for Bamber Bridge.

Today, the venue is known for hosting FA Cup qualifying rounds against teams such as Mossley, Goole AFC, and Warrington Town. The ground does not pretend to be something it is not.
