Katokopia Stadium

The stadium stands in a residential corner of Peristerona. It is not a grand structure, but it holds a specific kind of history. The ground’s formal name, Katokopia-Epistrofi-Glafkos Kliridis Stadium, tells the story of displacement. Katokopia, the club’s original home, fell under Turkish occupation in 1974. "Epistrofi" means Return, a word carved into the identity of the place and the team.

What you see when you look at the stands is simple. There is no running track around the pitch. The surface is natural grass, worn in patches near the penalty areas.

The venue opened in 1978, built to serve the community after the loss of their village. It was not designed for spectacle, but for necessity. Today, it hosts PAC Omonia 29is Maiou, following their promotion to the Cypriot First Division in 2024. Before that, it was the home of Doxa Katokopias FC, a club founded in 1954. The capacity is listed as 3,500, though some older records suggest it was once higher. That number matters less than the fact that the seats are still there, facing a pitch that has seen decades of local football.

There are no international matches recorded here, no major finals played on this grass. It is a place for the people who live nearby. The renovation completed in March 2022 modernised the facilities, but it did not change the character of the ground. It remains a local fixture, defined by its name and its location.
