Nyagisenyi Stadium

Nyagisenyi Stadium sits in the Gasaka Sector of Nyamagabe District, in the Southern Province of Rwanda. It is a place that does not hide its function. A club established in 1935 plays its matches on the natural grass pitch. President Paul Kagame has addressed crowds here on several occasions, including rallies in 2017, 2022 and 2024, while UNESCO celebrated International Literacy Day at the site in 2019.

The capacity of the stadium is officially recorded at 6,000 spectators by Sport Eden and The Football Finder, though a discrepancy exists with FMInside, which cites 5,000 for its database. Regardless of the exact number, the structure is planned for significant expansion. Nyamagabe District announced in April 2025 that a renovation project, budgeted at Rwf 3 billion, will begin in 2026. The work involves three phases: replacing the natural grass with artificial turf, constructing new changing rooms, and upgrading the seating areas and roofing. The final aim is to increase the capacity to 10,000.

There is no public record of when the stadium was originally built or who constructed it. No attendance figures have been documented for matches played there, nor is there evidence of previous tenants using the facility. The current setup is straightforward, with no heating systems or hybrid surface technology installed.
