Sancaktepe Stadium
Istanbul, Turkey
Formerly: Sancaktepe Hakan Şükür Stadium, Sancaktepe City Stadium, Sancaktepe 15 July Martyrs Stadium
The stadium was built by the local council in 2009 and opened the following year. It serves primarily as a home for Sancaktepe FK , a club that has spent much of its recent history in the third tier of Turkish football. The capacity is modest, holding just under two thousand spectators in the two stands that run along the sidelines.
The naming of the venue has shifted over time. It opened bearing the name of the former national team captain Hakan Şükür, a link to the country's footballing past. When Şükür moved into politics, the stadium lost the honour and took on the neutral title of Sancaktepe City Stadium .
