The ground first took shape in 1969. Siirtspor hold their home fixtures here, playing out on a natural grass pitch.

The setting sits in a city where the landscape changes quickly. The long-term plans to lay a synthetic running track are still waiting on tenders.

The numbers do not hang around. The seating capacity sits at 5,650, a figure agreed by the club and the local press, even though a rival source has floated 7,000 in its text. The discrepancy has not been resolved, so the lower number stands.

There is no sponsor’s name on the facade. The stadium kept its original title after building work in the early years, and the name has stayed put since.

When the earthquakes hit in February 2023 the ground felt the tremor. Maintenance and renovation works were started straight away, focusing on the stands and the infrastructure around the pitch. It has not been a complete rebuild, merely an attempt to shore up what was already there.

The coordinates place the gate at 37°55'44"N 41°56'15"E, though that sort of precision does not tell you much about the place once you are inside. The stadium itself is not much to look at: a bowl of concrete and ribbon seating, the kind of structure built in the late 1960s when the priority was to fit as many bodies as possible into a small plot. What it lacks in architecture it makes up for by being the only football ground in town.
