Stade Lat-Dior

Stade Lat-Dior sits in the Thiès-Ouest district on Route Thiès–Sindia. After a major reconstruction completed in 2019, the capacity expanded to ten thousand.

One feature distinguishes this pitch from many others in the country: it retains a natural grass surface. While Synthetic turf became common across Senegal, Stade Lat-Dior kept the original earth. In 2021, the quality of the playing surface drew sharp criticism, with players describing it as catastrophic. That assessment forced the local authorities to act quickly. Gregori International was brought in to renovate the pitch, and additional upgrades to the facilities, including individual seating and toilets, were rushed through to secure the necessary homologation for World Cup qualifiers.

The stadium belongs to the city, but it hosts teams from across the region. Génération Foot is the primary tenant, alongside the national side and the local club CNEPS Excellence. The venue has hosted events ranging from badminton championships to high-stakes qualifiers, though the crowds rarely fill the stands. A match between Senegal and Namibia in 2021 drew only two thousand spectators, a fraction of the available seats, suggesting that while the infrastructure has grown, the rivalry has not yet generated a sell-out crowd. It remains a working ground, unpretentious and functional, where the local team plays out its season under the open sky.
