Thống Nhất Stadium

Thống Nhất Stadium sits in District 10, but the running track is what you notice first, and that is likely what kept this place alive when football fell out of favour.

It is the oldest stadium in Vietnam, and the sense of age comes from the utilitarian concrete rather than any ornate design. It was built by the French colonial administration, but it has never been allowed to settle into quiet obsolescence. In 2023, it hosted Westlife. The floodlights are tall enough to reach over the trees, and they burn bright enough to turn the evening sky almost white.

The stadium is currently closed for a major renovation, but the plan is to build a new stand from scratch while the old one remains open. The capacity will grow from 14,400 to 17,750, but the track will stay.
