The New Defence

The ground in Horley carries a name that sounds like a duty rather than a place. The surface is natural grass, worn and marked by the seasons.

The club moved here in 2003 after decades at the previous site, keeping the name to honour the local history. Since then, the pitch has hosted matches in the Isthmian League South East Division, and the ground has seen a record 1,500 spectators arrive for a game against AFC Wimbledon. The capacity sits around 1,800, with the seated section accounting for just over a thousand of those spaces. The club maintains a website where supporters can find information about fixtures and results.

The pitch is the focus of everything here, and the grass is kept in condition through regular maintenance. The club was founded in 1896, making it one of the older sides in the area, and the ground has been part of that long history for twenty years.
