Voithplatz

The Voithplatz stood on Spratzerner Kirchenweg 25. It opened in 1951 after a build that began the previous spring. The name came from the company that owned the land, and it stayed Voithplatz from the first kickoff to the final demolition.

It held 8,000 spectators by the time it closed, a figure that grew slowly over decades. The record crowd of 5,000 turned up for a Bundesliga match against Austria Salzburg in 1989, not for a cup final but for a league game that ended in a draw. SKN St. Pölten played their last league season there in 2012 before moving to the new NV Arena, a transfer that left the Voithplatz available for St. Pölten Women and local amateur sides.

What you see in the picture is the main stand of that old ground.

The stadium was demolished in October 2020. The site is now a residential complex called Wohnbau Voithplatz, built by the St. Pölten housing cooperative. The land has been redeveloped, and the football ground is gone.
