The original name, Yongin Citizens Sports Park, was changed in 2020 to Yongin Mir Stadium, a name reflecting the city’s dragon mascot rather than just its civic function. Since 2026, the pitch has been the home of Yongin FC, though before that, the club took over the stadium while Suwon World Cup Stadium underwent major renovations. The pitch itself is natural grass, which has seen some wear through international fixtures, including the 2026 FIFA World Cup Asian Third Round Qualifier between South Korea and Iraq in October 2024. That match drew a crowd of 35,198 — the official attendance record for the venue.
The structure feels modern but functional, built to house not just football but also track and field events on an auxiliary pitch completed in 2022.
