About

The National Champions Cup is the premier one-day cricket competition in Pakistan, organized by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). It operates as an invitational tournament for the country's four regional teams: Pakistan Blues, Pakistan Gold, Pakistan Greens and Pakistan Whites. The event is designed to identify and select players for the national One Day International (ODI) squad, distinguishing it from the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy which focuses on First-Class cricket and the Champions T20 Cup for Twenty20 selections.

The competition features a straightforward format. Four teams play each other in a single round-robin league. The two sides finishing at the top of the table progress directly to the final, with no semi-final stage involved. There is no promotion or relegation between this tournament and other domestic competitions because participation is restricted to the top regional sides. The event sits above the department-based President's Cup in the domestic hierarchy.

The tournament was inaugurated in 2024 but was discontinued after that initial season before being revived for the 2026–27 campaign. In the 2026 edition, Pakistan Gold secured the title by defeating Pakistan Greens by 101 runs in the final. The match took place at the Multan Cricket Stadium on August 18, 2026. Individual performances included wickets from Shaheen Afridi and centuries from Shamyl Hussain and Saad Khan. The competition currently does not carry a corporate sponsor's name in its official title. Official details and updates are published on the PCB website. This structure ensures that the best regional talent is evaluated under standard List A conditions.
