About

The President's Trophy Grade-I stands as the premier departmental first-class cricket tournament in Pakistan. Organized by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), it provides a competitive platform for corporate and government department employees, operating as a parallel stream to the regional Quaid-e-Azam Trophy. The competition traces its origins to the 1960–61 season, when it was established as the Ayub Trophy under the Board of Control for Cricket in Pakistan. Over the decades, the event has undergone several name changes, including the BCCP Trophy and Patron's Trophy, before settling on its current title.

After a hiatus following the 2018–19 season, when the PCB merged structures into the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, the Grade-I tier was revived for the 2023–24 season. The tournament features a three-tier departmental structure with promotion and relegation between levels. The top tier comprises the strongest departmental sides, including Water and Power Development Authority, State Bank of Pakistan, Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited, Khan Research Laboratories, and Pakistan Television.

Matches are played in a format that typically involves a round-robin league stage followed by a final. Recent results highlight KRL’s victory over PTV in the 2024–25 season, while SNGPL claimed the title in 2023–24 by defeating WAPDA. Although the Grade-I winner does not receive promotion, the bottom two teams are relegated to Grade-II each year, replaced by the Grade-II champion. This structure ensures competitive balance within the departmental circuit, allowing teams to fight for their status in the highest echelon of domestic cricket.
