Singapore Women in Japan 2024/25

The Singapore Women’s tour of Japan, 2024 marked the first official bilateral T20 International series between the two national teams. Held from 1 to 6 October at the Sano International Cricket Ground in Sano, Kanto, the fixture replaced an originally planned One-Day International schedule with five T20 Internationals.

Japan Women secured a clean sweep, winning the series 5-0. The team, governed by the Japan Cricket Association (JCA), demonstrated dominance throughout the five-match campaign. Japan claimed victories by 9 wickets in the first two matches, followed by a 17-run win in the third, a 42-run victory in the fourth, and a 29-run triumph in the final contest.

The series provided crucial ICC ranking points for both sides ahead of regional commitments. Japan competes in the East Asia-Pacific region, while Singapore belongs to the broader Asian Cricket Council Asia region. This encounter served as preparation for upcoming events, including the Women’s East Asia Cup.

For Japan, this tour highlighted their strength within the East Asia-Pacific tier. The national side, which gained Associate Member status in 2005, continues to build its profile through regular international fixtures. Singapore, an Associate Member since 1974, utilised the tour to test their capabilities against a formidable opponent from a different regional confederation. The series stands as a standalone event rather than part of a recurring league structure, focusing on bilateral development and competitive experience for both squads.
