About

The Swaminarayan Pro Twenty is a domestic franchise cricket tournament in Kenya. It was founded in 2022 by the Shree Cutchi Leva Patel Samaj, a private community organization. This structure sets it apart from the official domestic pyramid sanctioned by Cricket Kenya. The competition operates as an independent, private exhibition league. It does not feed into the national team selection pathway or the standard NPCA Super League. The inaugural edition took place from October 29 to November 12, 2022. Six teams participated in the first season: Play Master Warriors, Hari Om Titans, Mombasa Cement Giants, Purple Dot Ndovus, Mafuko Mavericks, and Mahadev Strikers. The format combines a round-robin group stage with knockout semi-finals and a final match. In the 2022/23 season, the Mafuko Mavericks won the championship. They defeated the Mahadev Strikers by 35 runs in the final on November 12, 2022. The squad composition differs significantly from official domestic competitions. Teams feature a mix of Kenyan international and domestic players alongside 'Star' category recruits. Former internationals such as Richard Levi, Thisara Perera, and Kevin O’Brien have competed in the tournament. Current Ugandan internationals also feature in the roster. The venues used are grounds owned by the Shree Cutchi Leva Patel Samaj rather than public cricket clubs. The tournament exists separately from the Kenya T20 Premier League (KPL), which launched in 2023 under Cricket Kenya and Absolute Sports Agency. While the KPL holds official recognition, the Swaminarayan Pro Twenty remains a private venture. There is no record of the Swaminarayan Pro Twenty being held in 2023 or 2024. The competition’s future depends entirely on the private organizers. It has not integrated into the national cricket calendar. Fans attend to watch high-profile players in a relaxed setting rather than for official domestic promotion. The event highlights the diversity of cricket administration in Kenya outside the mainstream structure.
