Women's League Exhibition (Pakistan) 2022/23

Women's League Exhibition was a one-off cricket event designed to test the concept of a franchise-based domestic structure in Pakistan. Organised by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), the series served as a “soft launch” for the planned Pakistan Women's League (PWL). It was not intended as a permanent, ongoing competition but rather as a precursor exhibition series. The matches were held at the Pindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi, scheduled alongside fixtures of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 8. The competition featured two composite teams: Amazons and Super Women. These squads differed from traditional regional domestic sides. They were built from Pakistani domestic players mixed with international stars, including Danni Wyatt, Laura Delany, and Chamari Athapaththu. Amazons were captained by Bismah Maroof, while Super Women were led by Nida Dar. The format consisted of a three-match Twenty20 series. Amazons won the series, securing the title of the exhibition event. This initiative represented an attempt to introduce a city or brand-based league model similar to the men's PSL, but it remained distinct from the traditional domestic structure. The PCB Women's T20 Cup and the National Women's One-Day Tournament continue to feature regional teams such as Northern and Southern. The full four-team Pakistan Women's League was tentatively planned for September 2023, but faced delays and administrative hurdles. Reports from 2024 and 2025 indicate the franchise league had not officially launched and remained in a suspended or planning state. The exhibition matches stand as a unique experiment in Pakistani women's cricket, separate from the established cup competitions.
