Karella secured a 3-1 victory over Bechem United in the Premier League's second regular season match on Saturday. The home side took control early with K. Appiah's opening goal in the twenty-second minute, before M. Zaidan equalised for the visitors eight minutes later. And here's the thing — we had given Karella the edge with 49 per cent confidence, and the result vindicated that call.
The second half belonged largely to Karella. J. Manyina restored the lead in the seventy-seventh minute, and J. Bekoe added a fourth goal eight minutes from time to seal the win. The visitors could not respond, their chances drying up as the match progressed.
Bechem United pressed for an equaliser but found themselves flat-footed against Karella's structure. Three yellow cards for the away side came at intervals between the fifty-fourth and eighty-fifth minutes, a sign of frustration that never quite translated into clear opportunities.
Statistically the match was even. Karella held 54 per cent possession with 79 attacks compared to Bechem's 81. Shots on target told a different story — six for the hosts against just one for the visitors. More shots do not always mean more goals, and that was clear enough here.
Both sides now sit on three points from two games. Karella occupy sixth place while Bechem United are ninth. The gap between them is narrow, but the quality of performance tonight suggests Karella have found a rhythm that could serve them well.
